Clay Thompson joined the Sierra Properties team in December of 2005 as Vice President. Thompson is actively involved in the entitlement process for the Two Rivers property along with complete project management activities; including entitlements, land planning, and site development for a community in the town of Monticello located in north Florida.
Thompson has been actively involved in the construction and development industry for 15 years, including homebuilding, land development, and commercial construction. Prior to joining the Sierra team, he was with Metro Development Group in Tampa, where he was directly in charge of entitlement, planning, budgeting, and permitting for a variety of communities designed for several nationally ranked homebuilding companies.
Thompson also worked as Land Development Manager for the Lennar Corporation, where he supervised a team of project managers directly responsible for the development of communities, including planning and budgeting, supervision of site contractors and engineers, and coordination with local municipalities and utilities.
Prior to transferring to the Land Development Division of Lennar, he worked for US Home Corporation for 12 years in the homebuilding operations were he started as an onsite superintendent and moved to the position of Vice President of Project Manager, with direct responsibility for a sales and construction team charged with delivering 500 homes a year. While in that position, he was accountable for design of new communities, training of sales and construction personnel, analysis of budgets and financial statements, coordination of closings and mortgage processing, customer satisfaction through J.D. Power Surveys, and working with developers to insure timely delivery of completed home sites for even flow starts.
Thompson is a Tampa native. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and is active in several local and civic organizations. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Building Construction.
He and his wife, Susan, have two children and reside in Tampa.
